Chris Charman

I've been involved in the UK Reward scene for over 20 years, am passionate about the subject and understand the strategic business and broader HR context in which total rewards sit.

After starting my career at KPMG in line HR I moved to Towers Perrin and progressed from developing compensation surveys all the way through to becoming a partner in 2009. I remained with Tower Watson after the merger with Watson Wyatt.  During that time i continued to learned from great colleagues and clients as part of the leadership team for the Reward, Talent and Communications practice. This combined discipline was excellent in helping me develop from a detailed compensation consultant into a rounded total reward and HR practioner, fully aware of the change dynamic and the importance of great engagement and communications.

After 18 years of highly varied work at Towers, I moved to Mercer where took the opportunity to expand further my knowledge of diversity and inclusion, global career frameworks and how to help the HR and reward function be prepared for the challenges of HRIS change. Since becoming independent, i have worked with the one of the world's largest oil and gas companies on changing their global reward strategy to enable the Energy Transition, advised numerous University Remuneration Committees and supported private sector companies in the UK and in Denmark, working in partnership with the great Mercer Denmark team. In Denmark we also designed and launched a research programme to gain compelling insights into delivering gender equality in Danish companies.

And Mervelles? Well, i am a Jersey boy, and a traditional treat is des mervelles in Jersey Norman French, but what we know in the island as Jersey Wonders.
